My dad was great, worked all his life from being 15 at Stott and Smith Victoria Mill in Horwich he
was well respecetd, loved his grandchildren would take them out for long walks play with them, he
loved life, he always went out with his brother Jim they were inseprable, greenwwod for 2 pints of
mild on a sunday,they were always together, my dad also has a sister Joan and her twin John, also
the late George and Joyce, in Decemeber 1999 he started being unwell, he had just retired to spend
more time with bhis grandaughter chelsea she was born on the 4th Dec 1999, then came the devastating
news it was a tumor, he had Radiotherapy but instead of telling him it was not working they let him
have all the treatment then said it had not worked. the next step was a cholostomy bag but looking
back now he should have had that done at the begining thats what they the gp wanted him to do but he
was terrified,he had the operation everything was ok exept there was a swelling in the lymph nodes
they took a biopsy the cancer had spread there was nothing they could do. he did not know he was
dying he could never have handled something like this, he once said to me in the living room if
there was anything i wanted to say to him i just broke down telling him i loved him and not to leave
me he never cried he was so brave and strong we brought him home from Christies they were awful as
far as inpatients go,but we managed to get him home and thats were he died with his loving family
surronding him just as he would have wanted he sadly passed away with his family by his side in
july 2001,he left behind his wife Rita, daughter Karen, son's gary and David, sadly david passed
away in 07 due to being Alcoholic,his grandchildren, Emma the late Byron, dane chelsea, Taylor,
Ashton, Yvonne and the late Stephen, he also now has a great grandson who he never met Thomas Byron
and emma is due to have another baby 4th December she is having a boy Alfie Jo, another
greatgrandson for you dad xxxx

TO A SPECIAL FATHER
As Father's Day approaches once more
and the pain I feel is still so raw.
I remember you Dad with so much love
and the day God took you to Heaven above.
You said I was your sweetest girl
with pure blonde hair and a little curl.
I remember sitting on your knee
as you sang nursery rhymes to me.
You were a special dad it's true
and listened to my heartaches too
You were always there to lend an ear
and this went on for many a year.
The years went by and you grew old
but were there for me to hug and hold.
You were my rock and supported me
with words of wisdom and sincerity.
I wish that you were here again
to take away this awful pain.
Oh dad, please hear me when I say
I miss you so on Fathers Day.
